We didn't need a reservation and were helped the moment we entered the store. Even though I only speak a little Japanese, the staff made sure we understood everything before proceeding. They even had some cards with english translations retaining to their store. The staff helps you with choosing clothes to your liking and matching the obi. They also help you get dressed and keep your belongings for you. Overall the staff was kind and helpful, the clothes were in good condition and all looked really nice.
